Riding an Energica electric motorcycle, this American managed to reach both coasts of the United States in 111 hours. A historic achievement!
Who said that electric motorcycles were not compatible with long journeys? On April 22, Earth Day, Rob Swartz and Steven Day set themselves a rather special challenge. That of crossing the United States on the handlebars of a 100% electric motorcycle. Leaving from New York, on the East Coast, Rob Swartz was on the handlebars of an Eva EsseEsse 9 while Steven Day embarked on the opposite route, starting from Redondo Beach, California, with an EVA Ribelle.
While both teams planned to arrive in a similar amount of time, only Steven managed to make the crossing in the end. Rob was forced to retire following an incident encountered on the service van that accompanied him.

4,677 km in 111 hours
In total, it took Steven 111 hours to cross the United States from west to east, or 2,906 miles (4,677 km). To achieve his record, Steven relied heavily on the network of fast charging terminals. Deployed along American highways, these have recovered approximately 90% of the battery in one hour of charging, all with a range of around 160 km in highway use.
Steven Day is not the first American to cross the United States with an electric motorcycle. At the end of 2021, Scott Harkless had already managed to complete the crossing with a Zero SR/F. The journey had lasted 112 hours but on a shorter route (4095 km) than that taken by Steven Day.
