“Electric Motorbike Sales Reach 48,000 Units in Indonesia: Insights from Aismoli Chairman Budi Setiyadi”

Jakarta

Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli), Budi Setiyadi said sales of electric motorbikes in the Motherland. He claims, until now, there have been tens of thousands of vehicles sent to consumers.

Through a virtual discussion forum held last Monday (29/5), Budi ensured that sales of electric motorbikes in Indonesia had reached 48 thousand units. Unfortunately, he did not explain in more detail about the product sales period.

“In the beginning, I really thought maybe there were still a few, maybe it was still testing the water, the community was still experimenting. Now this has reached almost 48 thousand electric motorbikes that are already in the community,” said Budi. Setiyadi, quoted on Tuesday (30/5).

Budi explained, the increase in sales of electric motorbikes in Indonesia could not be separated from the implementation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Battery Electric Vehicle (KBL) Program for Road Transportation.

According to him, since the regulation was implemented, the demand for electric motorbikes has continued to increase. In addition to sales, the number of brand holder agents or APM has also increased.

Initially, he said, there were only nine APM electric motorbikes operating in Indonesia. However, today, the number has increased dramatically to 52 APM. Not only selling, they also produce electric motors.

Budi added, the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia was also increasingly developed after the central government issued Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Electric Motorized Vehicles (Battery Electric Vehicles) as Operational Service Vehicles and/or Individual Service Vehicles for Central Government Agencies and Local government.

“We as an association thank the government, not only Presidential Decree 55, but also Presidential Decree 7 of 2022, in which the Presidential Instruction mandates that government offices to the lowest level immediately switch to electric vehicles. That means the government is so committed, concerned and quickly to this transition,” said Budi.
