JAKARTA – An unusual speed test experiment to measure the ability of an electric car was carried out by a team from Carwow and streamed on their YouTube channel on Tuesday, August 22nd.
This experiment is to test whether the MG4 XPower can compete with the speed of the supercars that have been tested, namely the Lamborghini Gallardo and Nissan GT-R.
The MG4 XPower is an electric hatchback assembled in China powered by a pair of 429hp electric motors and 600Nm of torque. It is clear that the power of the MG4 XPower cannot be taken lightly.
Equipped with a four-wheel drive system, the MG4 XPower can reach speeds of 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. However, is that enough to beat the ferocity of a V10 convertible or V6 twin-turbo coupe?
The MG4 XPower is also 1,800 kg heavier than its internal combustion engine counterpart.

As it turned out, after being tested the MG4 XPower was much faster in the early seconds of the race. Lamborghini Gallardo and Nissan GT-R take a little longer to produce real power. Once that happened, this energetic electric hatchback started to fall behind.
Keep in mind, quoted from Motor1, August 22, that electric cars tend to lose power more quickly than cars with internal combustion engines, so longer races may produce different results.
Even though it is heavier than its two rivals, in the braking test, MG won the braking test with the shortest braking distance. The XPower has larger brakes on both axles, equipped with sports caliper brakes from the SAIC brand which claims that this electric car can stop from 100 km/h to 0 km/h in a distance of 33.9 meters.
The MG4 XPower is still inferior in several aspects, its impressive performance and braking show the potential of electric vehicles in the ever-growing automotive world.
