87,000 full-electric cars were sold in Europe last month, the most sought after being Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y. Dacia Spring did not catch the top 10. Sales of electric cars increased by 77% compared to last year, and this is mainly due to the appearance of more SUVs, according to JATO data.

The Tesla Model 3 was the most sought after electric car, with over 9,000 units in February, and the Model Y, which is also produced at the new German plant, found more than 6,700 customers. Four models each exceeded 3,000 units: Fiat 500, Kia Niro, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Hyundai Kona.
The top ten was completed by Renault Zoe, Volkswagen ID 4, Skoda Enyaq and Mini electric. Compared to a year ago, the share of SUVs in total sales of electric cars reached 51%, compared to 27%, and that mattered a lot, because this type of body is required.
In total, the new car market totaled 790,000 units, 25% below the February 2020 total, the month before the pandemic began.
The best-selling model was the Volkswagen Golf last month, followed by the Peugeot 208 and the Dacia Sandero.
