Electric cars don’t go out. The Burgas Fire Department faces a serious challenge with them – 2024-02-13 15:48:53

We face the challenge of fires in electric cars that no one thinks about.

This was said by the Director of the Regional Office “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population”, Commissioner Nikolay Nikolaev, during the discussion “Modern trends in parking and a green city”, which took place today in Burgas.

He explained that active training is now underway in Burgas Region on how to extinguish fires and serve road accidents with electric vehicles.

The electric car does not turn off. The fire in it can only be limited so as not to cover other cars. The only course of action is to submerge the vehicle. In some cities around the world, they are already making parking spaces that are of the “pit” type. They are filled with foam and the burning electric car is placed in it. We will not stand by and watch, nor will we allow the flames to spread.” he also said.

Commissioner Nikolaev also stated that the Fire Safety Service is experiencing serious difficulties with parking in Burgas. Any expansion of the Blue and Green zones is coordinated with RSPBZN-Burgas, and part of the parking spaces are removed to accommodate the passage of fire trucks.

Unfortunately, however, some citizens recognize them as such and it is difficult for us to pass. After 17:30, more of the streets in the center of Burgas become impossible for our cars to pass. There are more and more impudent drivers who, by turning on their emergency lights, think that this is an opportunity to stop where it is convenient for them and for as long as they want. There are several cases where we cannot reach the accident because there is parking on both sides of one-way streets. More multi-level parking is needed, because there are streets like “Konstantin Velichkov” where you park in two rows. For 5 years now, the fire department has not used “Slivnitsa” street, from the intersection with “Maria Luiza” street, because we cannot cross even with our smallest car. We have to go around. Last year we had several incidents with damage to our cars because we couldn’t reach the fire.” the director of the Burgas fire department also said.
