Electric cars are cheating to recruit classes! – Varlamov.ru – LJ

Every year in the world, more and more people are talking about electric vehicles, manufacturers are releasing more and more new models, and people, accordingly, are more willing to buy them.

Officials are very fond of exploiting this topic, because electric cars seem to everyone to be very environmentally friendly, everyone wants to quickly replace terrible cars with internal combustion engines with beautiful boxes with batteries! This is the technology of the future – safe and friendly to nature!

It would seem that everything is so, what kind of discussions can there be?

Therefore, some countries introduce special subsidies and give these electric vehicles almost free to everyone, or at least exempt their owners from tax. By the way, there are subsidies even in Moscow. There is free parking for electric vehicles, that is, if you have a Tesla, you can park for free even in the paid zone.

Germany in general distributes to everyone 9000 euros for the purchase of an electric car. As a result, an electric car can be leased for a penny. So, Smart EQ for companies will cost only 10 euros (811 rubles at the current exchange rate) per MONTH.

In Moscow, a taxi ride to the airport in economy is more expensive … Also, with this money, you can take a car-sharing car for two or three hours or fill the tank with 17 liters of 95th gasoline. In general, everything.

If in Germany you need to buy a car not for a company, but for yourself, then for 39 euros a month (3165 rubles) you can take a “full-size” Renault Zoe electric car.

I think at this point the buyers of credit “Grant”, who have to pay 15 thousand a month, begin to worry a little or even envy the Germans.

Cool to them ?!

In fact, no … With electric vehicles, not everything is so simple.

It is important not to flirt with this topic, because often all this state support and all subsidies are lobbied by automakers. No matter how awesome ideas they lure you in, you should always remember that the job of any automaker is to make money. This means that they need to ramp up production in order to produce more electric vehicles tomorrow than today.

Naturally, carmakers are interested in accelerating consumption. And if directly in the city from an electric car there is really less harm than from a car with an internal combustion engine, then on a global scale the situation is already different.

Because the production and subsequent disposal of electric vehicles and especially batteries for them requires a huge amount of resources. And no matter how many Europeans install wind turbines, the main method of generating electricity today is still burning fossil fuels. And this is one of the main sources of CO2 emissions.

Schedule: International Energy Agency (IEA) through the World Bank

Despite the development of alternative energy, we burn more and more fossil fuels every year. The production of energy from renewable sources simply does not keep up with this level of consumption, therefore, roughly speaking, it is necessary to heat with coal and gas.

Schedule: U.S. Energy Information Administration

Flirting with electric cars, with the urgent replacement of technologies, we, without knowing it, simply accelerate consumption: we force people to throw away their cars, which could serve for another ten years, and buy new ones. Ultimately, a massive shift to electric vehicles could do more harm than good to nature.

If you are really worried about global climate change, you need to reduce consumption yourself and promote consumption reduction among friends and acquaintances.

As for the modern city and its ecology, it must abandon cars (even electric ones) and develop alternative modes of movement, be it more convenient public transport or individual ways of moving such as bicycles and scooters.

By the way, here is a graph of the carbon footprint of various modern modes of transport. It can be seen that the operation of electric vehicles (or, for example, electric scooters) is relatively harmless, but a huge amount of CO2 is emitted during their production and disposal.

Don’t be fooled, because under the guise of protecting the environment, carmakers, with government approval, are driving consumption and selling you harmful and dangerous solutions.
