Talk of subsidizing EVs had previously sparked a backlash from the Indonesian Transport Company (MTI). They believe the government’s plan to subsidize electric vehicles is wrong. In fact, it doesn’t solve the transportation problems in Indonesia.

“If the reference is Presidential Instruction 7 of 2022, it is very clear that what the regulations target are operational service vehicles and/or individual service vehicles for central government agencies and regional governments,” he said MTI Tory chief Darmantoro, quoting Antara, Wednesday (12/14).

MTI, he continued, stressed the need to switch from the use of private transport to public transport, so that the organization of public transport in all cities of Indonesia must be strengthened and continuously refined.
