Electric Bus Controversy: Former Minister Antony Raju Claims Electric Bus Travel More Comfortable Than Plane

Thiruvananthapuram – Former transport minister Antony Raju has taken a stand in the city’s electric bus controversies. Antony Raju’s response was that traveling by electric bus is more comfortable than by plane. He was speaking at a meeting of former teachers of SMV School.

“Our electric bus is more comfortable than autorickshaw, car or plane. That’s why electric bus travel is the most convenient for those in Thiruvananthapuram city.”- Antony Raju said.

KB Ganesh Kumar, who replaced Antony Raju as minister, came out against electric bus services in Thiruvananthapuram city. After assuming the post of minister, Ganesh took the stand that KSRTC does not want e-buses. This did not get support in the Left Front. CPM’s position is that e-buses are necessary in modern times. CPM State Secretary MV Govindan and others are of the same opinion.

KSRTC estimates that electric buses are not at a loss. 50 buses started service in April 2023. 107 buses in August. At present, electric buses are operating in the city of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Kerala has also not announced its stand on the Prime Minister’s plan to get 950 e-buses.
