Electric and hybrid cars in the crosshairs of the tax authorities: what will change from 2023

The fight against tax evasion represents a fundamental principle for the new government led by Giorgia Meloni and it is to achieve the objective that the aim is to intensify the check. Thus we will try to better monitor the way in which Italians spend their money to understand if everything is happening on a regular basis now also involving the motor world. A fundamental role will thus be played as always by the Guardia di Finanza, knowing full well that there are still many Italians who receive support even though they are not entitled to it, but thus removing the possibility for some who would need it.

Until recently it was supercars, such as Maserati, Ferrari or Lamborghini, that aroused some suspicion when they were bought and tried to understand if those who had bought them really had the economic possibilities, but now it is also other types of cars that generate doubts . The CETE (Economic Control of the Territory) of the Guardia di Finanza starting from 2023 it will thus cross-reference the data on income and those relating to other assets held by the taxpayer.

Particular attention will be paid to models that have a maximum power exceeding 120 kW in the case of vehicles hybrids and at 70 kW for those electric. Green vehicles now have a high price, which is why it becomes important to take this aspect into consideration, knowing full well how attractive they have become for motorists.
