Elections start with pressure, influence and political engineering –

/ world today news/ “The preparation for the elections in the country is characterized by preparation for them with non-political means – pressure on candidates, on activists, influence within political parties and an attempt at non-political engineering of candidacies”.

This was stated by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the BSP, Mihail Mikov, at the opening of the meeting of the National Assembly of the BSP. In his words, this year the stakes are obviously very high, because these approaches are becoming more and more widespread, including without worrying about the facts that come out in the public space. The leader of the left emphasized that a scandalous decision of the CEC was adopted yesterday, which is in gross contradiction with the law. He explained that it is a question of a text from the Electoral Code, replaced by a decision of the commission. “If the BSP is among the big parties that might benefit from a central draw for a number on the ballot, then the simple question arises – Why is there a need for laws in Bulgaria, since there are bodies that can always add to them?” asked Mikov . He explained that this applies both to the lot that is drawn in the municipal election commissions and is explicitly written in the law, and to all other issues related to the lawful conduct of elections in Bulgaria. According to him, this issue is extremely important for democracy in Bulgaria, for its functioning, for legality and for citizens’ trust in the institutions that are broadcast through elections. Mikov emphasized that it is categorically clear from Art. 423 of the Election Code, that the consecutive numbers in the ballots are determined by lot by the OIC. He explained that several chairmen of parliamentary groups – Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Borislav Borisov, Krasimira Kovachka, Rumen Yonchev, Valeri Simeonov wrote a letter to the CEC and it accepted an illegal interpretation of the law. “Surely I and other chairmen of parliamentary groups should write a letter to cancel this decision or to take another one. These are the absurdities of the Bulgarian rule of law,” said the chairman of the BSP.

The BSP has several main tasks before it, which it will be able to fulfill

Mihail Mikov was adamant that the party should set several main tasks for the upcoming elections. As the first such, he pointed to the confirmation of the BSP as the left party of Bulgaria, because there are a number of pseudo left projects that are currently deceiving the voters and will claim their vote. “It is inadmissible, incorrect and morally reprehensible for people who did everything possible in the name of their personal ambitions – to have bad results in the European and parliamentary elections last year, for these elections to be the loudest speakers for the unification of the left,” he commented. . In his words, such underestimation of the memory of citizens is arrogant. As the second main goal of the BSP, Mikov indicated the achievement of results that would allow the political recovery and organizational strengthening of the BSP to continue decisively and quickly after the elections. He explained that for years issues were suppressed that should have been resolved earlier. Mikov stated that the third main goal of the left is to finish the battle for consolidation and expansion of the party’s positions in the local government. “This means not only the pre-election campaign, but also the competition and political actions between the first and second round, and to pay attention to the possibilities when constructing local government bodies in municipal councils.

Mihail Mikov reminded that an agreement was signed with the partners of the left from BSP LEFT BULGARIA, in which they agree: the campaign between the partners in the coalition must be tolerant; in the second round, each of the coalition parties must support the candidate from the BSP LEFT BULGARIA who reached the second round; after the elections, the municipal councilors nominated by the coalition parties will form common groups in the municipal councils. “We are aware of our commitments and the implementation of what was written should be a certificate of correctness and relations in the parliamentary coalition,” Mikov was categorical. He explained that with the exception of the Bulgarian Social Democrats, all other parties from the coalition have signed the memorandum. “We must behave correctly, openly and openly, including towards such partners”, Mikov concluded.
