Elections in Russia: the ruling party won

Russia’s legislative elections were scrutinized today and President Vladimir Putin’s party, United Russia, won with 44.92% of the vote.

Why does it matter. The Russian ruling party retains control of the Duma, but had its worst result since 2003.

Elections. With a participation of 45.15%, these were the parties that exceeded 5% and will have representation:

  • United Russia 44.92%
  • Communist Party 21.97%
  • Liberal Democratic Party 8.42%
  • Fair Russia 7.32%
  • New People 6.42%
