Frankfurt / Darmstadt (dpa / lhe) – Scientists from the universities of Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Oldenburg want to use the “local election compass” to give voters an orientation before the local elections in March. The city of Darmstadt announced on Wednesday that electoral assistance is available in 34 Hessian cities and communities. On Wednesday afternoon, however, the online tool was not yet activated for all municipalities.
With the compass one can compare one’s own position on important issues of local politics with the positions of the parties. Finally, there is a ranking of the parties with the greatest agreement with their own convictions. Information about the candidates should also be available, as the city further announced.
In addition to the major cities – such as Darmstadt, Frankfurt am Main or Wiesbaden – the compass is also available in smaller cities such as Zwingenberg or Biedenkopf. The online tool consists of around 35 theses, including “community-specific content that addresses very specific problems of the community”. The local elections in Hesse will take place on March 14th.
