LIBREVILLE, August 15 (AGP) – The spokesperson for the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Stéphane Dujarric, expressed Monday in New York, the will of this organization to see the electoral process underway in Gabon to be held in a peaceful, inclusive and credible climate.
« At the launch of the electoral campaign for the presidential, legislative and municipal elections scheduled for August 26, 2023 in Gabon, the United Nations urges all stakeholders to work for a peaceful, inclusive and credible electoral process. We urge all political actors to refrain from any inflammatory actions or remarks that could compromise the electoral process. The United Nations calls on all candidates to contribute to the integrity of the electoral process and to resolve any disputes through dialogue and legal channels,” he said.
The appeal launched by the UN is part of its missions, namely, to maintain peace and security in the world. Gabon has been a member of the UN since 1960.
