Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md met with the selection team for KPU and Bawaslu members for the 2022-2027 term. Mahfud said the government’s agenda Election 2024 must still be held.
Mahfud’s meeting with the selection team for KPU and Bawaslu members at his office, which was broadcast on the YouTube account of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Friday (10/22/2021). After the meeting, Mahfud said the selection team for KPU and Bawaslu members was independent.
“We’re still here within the framework of independence, precisely because it’s independent coming here, we will do a profiling, we will do this, will objectivity, and so on so that we state that the government, if it’s an election matter, is determined to be completely neutral, fair and fair. impartial,” said Mahfud.
The selection team for KPU and Bawaslu members consists of 11 people. Mahfud said the selection team for KPU and Bawaslu members had been tested and credible.
“Therefore, since the establishment of the KPU-Bawaslu, as well as the committee, we have also selected people whose credibility has been tested and now these are the people,” he said.
Mahfud then said that the government’s agenda was clear that the 2024 elections must still be held according to the constitutional calendar and laws. This, according to Mahfud, is in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“I just want to emphasize with the government to form a KPU and Bawaslu Pansel, and by actively proposing an election date, the voting date for 2024, it means that the government has a clear agenda, in 2024 the election must be held, according to the constitutional calendar and the statutory calendar,” said Mahfud.
“The president’s instructions to us are to schedule the elections according to the law, do not engage in politics outside of that. Now, there are ladies and gentlemen (Pansel KPU and Bawaslu),” he added.
