Elected Representatives Willing to Give Up Pedestrianization After Threat of Resignation

Gathered this Tuesday, November 14 following the threat of resignation from municipal councilor Gilles Tulsa, the elected representatives of the majority have just announced that they are ready to give up pedestrianization.

As mentioned earlier in the day, a meeting took place on Monday November 13 between the Millavois citizen collective, the mayor of Millau, the elected representative for commerce and municipal councilor Gilles Tulsa. The latter supported the request of the collective which has been calling for the reopening of Boulevard de Bonald and de la Capelle for many weeks. Otherwise, as he confirmed at the beginning of the afternoon, he intended to resign from the municipal council.

In this context, the elected representatives of the majority met this Tuesday. And came to the conclusion that they were ready to give up pedestrianization to carry out all the other actions of their proposed mandate.

“We want to implement all the projects to which we are very attached, pedestrianization is a small thing in all of what we carry”, indicated this Tuesday evening the city’s first magistrate. Speaking on behalf of the elected representatives of the majority, Emmanuelle Gazel “wants to go back on pedestrianization to allow us to carry out all the other projects that are particularly close to our hearts: school catering, synthetic pitch, support for associations, cinema…”.

Concretely, elected officials make the choice “collectively to renounce almost everything about pedestrianization, to accede to the request made by Gilles Tulsa, around the two-way Place de la Capelle, the reopening of Bonald in its entirety and then for the Foch tour to return to a seasonal situation”.

These announcements, the elected representatives of the majority indicate the “having communicated yesterday evening to Gilles Tulsa about the intention, that of prioritizing all the other projects of the mandate”. By going beyond the advisor’s requests, the elected officials see “no reason for his wish to resign”.
