An 82-year-old woman was asked to leave the premises when she complained about the food at a nursing home in Denmark.
The woman’s granddaughter, Marina Nichole Dandakis, has subsequently posted a photo of the food that was served, writes Danish BT.
The picture shows a plate with what should be yellow peas and sausage.
The 82-year-old woman visits friends at the nursing home in Nørrebro in Copenhagen a couple of times a week.

– Absolutely awful
The friends are said to have complained several times about the food, and therefore the woman had enough this time.
Dandakis tells BT that the grandmother approached the staff to complain about the food, but that she was then expelled from the place and told to wait in the living room of the person she was visiting.
“That doesn’t belong here,” the grandmother is said to have been told by the staff, according to the grandson.
Since then, the 82-year-old has reportedly refused to open her mouth when she visits the nursing home.
– My grandmother thinks it is absolutely terrible to look at the food that they serve to their residents, but she does not dare to say anything more to them because she is afraid that those she visits will be ashamed, the granddaughter tells the Danish newspaper.
Must get the food they deserve
– About dignity
Jette Bolding, area manager in the Health and Care Administration, regrets that the 82-year-old was treated in this way by their employees. She says that of course it shouldn’t be like that and that it will be taken up with the employees.
According to Dandakis, the bad food is not a one-off.
She says that the grandmother has been coming regularly to the care home for over a year and has seen them serve similar food several times.
She herself says that she was completely shocked and almost sick when she saw the picture her grandmother had taken of the food.
– It is also about dignity, says Danish Dandakis further.
Dandakis is a nurse herself and says that she knows that the food doesn’t necessarily look like that everywhere, and that for 3,000 Danish kroner a month it is almost good enough.
3,000 Danish kroner corresponds to around 4,700 Norwegian kroner.

– Taste and comfort
Bolding admits to BT that the meal in the photo does not look appetizing, but that yellow peas are a dish “many of our residents like”.
Furthermore, she says that food is about taste and pleasure and that it is therefore difficult to meet everyone’s preferences every time.
– But in addition to taste, we have to work on presentation, because here the food could have looked more appetizing, adds Bolding.
