An 84-year-old British woman and her 60-year-old son sat dead in their couch for weeks. When rescuers found the two, their bodies were partly in a state of decomposition.

In the woman, law doctors found a strong hypothermia as the cause of death, the public broadcaster BBC reported. They couldn’t find out what caused the death of the son.
The incident dates back to mid-January and occurred in Bracknell, near London, in a housing complex that construction workers wanted to clean up. “It is no longer possible to determine when they died and whether they died at the same time,” said a forensic investigator. Investigators did find a newspaper from the beginning of December 2019 in a garbage can.
Mother and son were not fully dressed. They were both said to have lived very withdrawn and had not had contact with their relatives for years. The house was barely furnished and had no heating, the investigators said. The power was off. The 60-year-old visually impaired man had more than a thousand euros (more than 1,100 euros) in his pocket.
