Two women have been reported by the police for a scam committed against a 62-year-old in Reggio Calabria after being blocked at Council Hall. The two, of Campania origins, according to the prosecution, carried out the scam together with two accomplices who are yet to be identified, with the usual system. A man called the victim at home posing as a police sergeant and communicating that a family member of the woman had had a car accident and that to avoid arrest he would have had to hand over a sum of money or jewels. In this specific case, the victim was also reached by a cell phone call from the alleged lawyer of the injured party who made the same request as compensation for damages.
The 62-year-old then delivered 4.100 euro beyond precious for a weight corresponding to 350 grams to one of the two women who went to his home. While he was still on the phone with the scammers, the victim’s husband arrived at the house and, realizing what was happening, immediately called 112. Thanks to the report, the Reggio Calabria Flying Squad identified the car in which the two women they were fleeing, which was then blocked by the Sala Consilina traffic police. The officers recovered both the money and the jewels on board the vehicle. The stolen goods were immediately returned to their rightful owners.
