An elderly patient was given the wrong medication on admission to the University Hospital of Northern Norway (UNN) at the weekend. The patient died.
The hospital in Tromsø writes in a press release that they deeply regret the incident.
The cause of death is the wrong medication of an elderly patient.
– The incident is very serious and a great burden for both relatives and the health personnel involved. The National Health Inspectorate and the police have been notified, and an internal review will also be carried out to map out the case, says medical specialist Marte Lødemel Henriksen.
The next of kin have been informed and are closely monitored by UNN, the hospital states in the press release.
