“Elderly driver crashes into neighbor’s house after confusing accelerator and brake pedals in German town”

In an attempt to park his Chrysler in front of his house in the German town of Ribnitz-Damgarten in the German province of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, an 85-year-old man had the misfortune of falling into a situation in which very young drivers fall – he confused the accelerator and brake pedals. As a result of this unintentional mistake, the elderly man ended up together with the powerful car in the guest room of his 82-year-old neighbor’s house, Bild writes.

While the driver responsible for the accident was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the homeowner is currently homeless as the building is in danger of collapsing.

“According to available information, the 85-year-old driver of the Chrysler was attempting to park his vehicle. In doing so, his foot may have slipped from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal,” a police spokesman said Friday.

The jeep went through the garden fence, ran over the hedge behind it and then crashed into the wall of the house.

“I was sitting in the living room and suddenly I heard a killer crash,” the 82-year-old man told Bild. Then it turned out that there was a “guest” in the guest room of the house – the neighbor’s car. Fortunately, no one was in the room at the time of the accident.

A similar incident took place just a few days ago in Rodewisch, Saxony, writes “Bild”. And there, an 85-year-old driver mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal and drove through two gardens, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake. However, the pensioner was lucky in the accident – he was not injured.
