Five people were injured inside vehicles and on the street after an 89-year-old driver apparently lost control of his luxury Mercedes car last night in Brooklyn (NYC).

According to police, the pileup began at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday when the elderly man was pulling out of a parking space on 18th Ave. and collided with the young man who was riding a scooter near 76th St. in Bensonhurst.
“He hit a scooter and the guy went flying,” said to Daily News a witness who did not want to be identified. The Mercedes then turned onto 76th Street heading west toward Dyker Heights, where collided with a parked taxi.
“I was parked to get some food and a car crashed into the back of me,” said taxi driver Mohammed Tayyab, 37. “He lost control when they turned the corner.” He added that a 20-year-old passenger inside his gray Toyota Camry taxi was injured during the accident.
Then the old man’s sedan lurched toward the sidewalk and He hit another man before crashing into a restaurant“Halal Xpress Asian Fusion,” where he finally stopped.
“The car went up the sidewalk and hit a guy who went flying under the restaurant awning,” said Nilsa Rosario, 52, “I tried to see if he was okay. He was lying there with his arm over his head. She was out.”
A female passenger was also trapped inside the wrecked Mercedes after her airbag deployed, Rosario said.
Paramedics took the five victims, including the driver of the Mercedes and his female passenger, to several hospitals, including Maimonides Medical Center and NYU Langone Hospital. All were in stable condition, police said.
No charges have been announced against the driver. Hours before, also yesterday in Brooklyn, an 87-year-old woman was killed by her own car in front of her house.
