Elderly brother and sister killed in West Jakarta, RT boss believes not due to starvation

Jakarta

Two elderly women, M (70) and LS (60), were found dead in a house in Tamansari, West Jakarta. The head of the local RT, Dedi Purwanto, is certain that the two victims did not die of starvation.

Dedi revealed that LS works as a garbage man every day. She said the victim was a social welfare recipient (bansos).

“It receives from the government and is also supported by the places of worship. Every month groceries and cash for daily life,” said Dedi Purwanto when he met detik comFriday (11/25/2022).

Do not starve

In addition to receiving welfare assistance, residents helped LS by collecting used bottles for LS. Though he was barely alive, Dedi wasn’t sure LS had starved to death.

“He never begged the residents. Most of the residents are sincere to give empty bottle. We are residents here to collect the empty bottle continues to be given to him,” he said.

“This is not negligence, do not starve. I think that’s enough to eat every day,” Dedi explained.

According to Dedi, LS is a hard worker. Although he is elderly, he also takes care of his older brother who suffers from mental disorders (ODGJ).

Hardworking younger brother

“He never, ever complains about anything. It’s great. He eats up his hard work looking for bottles of mineral water,” she explained.

Despite living in a mediocre way, Dedi said, LS attends Arisan weekly. LS regularly paid dues before finally being found dead.

“Even though he’s a street sweeper, he doesn’t beg for anything. It’s amazing that he even performs in social gatherings. Once a week. I don’t know the amount,” she explained.

“Why do some people play stand up? Because there are those who want to find because he didn’t pay for the gathering,” he added.
