Elden Ring’s success triggers astronomical earnings growth for parent company FromSoftware

The huge worldwide success of Elden Ring fueled an astronomical increase in profits from FromSoftware’s parent company, the Kadokawa Group.

With over 16 million units sold across all platforms, Elden Ring has become an outstanding sensation that it could be the best-selling game of 2022. The game’s incredible performance has boosted the sales and operating income of FromSoftware owner Kadokawa Group.

According to Kadowkawa’s latest earnings report, the company’s net sales rose to 17.137 billion yen (7.8 billion rubles at current exchange rates), up 255% over the past six months. Operating income increased more than 1.110% to 7.592 billion yen (3.3 billion rubles) from 623 million yen a year ago.

Bandai Namco has previously confirmed that Elden Ring is now an official franchise and that more content is on the way, including a possible sequel or expansion in movie / TV format.

Sony and Tencent also invested in FromSoftware, buying a 30% stake in the developer to help fund new game development projects.

Therefore, net sales in this segment amounted to 17,137 million yen (+ 255.1% compared to last year) and operating profit – 7,592 million yen (+ 1,116.8%).
