Elden Ring on PC with a vulnerability that allows other players to break their save files

Elden Ring it’s a great game, but in keeping with FromSoftware’s “traditions”, the quality of its network code on the PC cries out to heaven for vengeance. A nasty flaw has just been discovered that is being maliciously used to spoil the fun of PC gamers.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known when FromSoftware will patch this vulnerability.

Recall that Elden Ring debuted on February 25, simultaneously on PC and Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5.

FromSoftware regularly crashes on PC, and the games have to save fans

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that FromSoftware games have been played have such problems on pc. In the case of series Dark Souls hackers were also able to break player save. In this case, the authors did not bother to patch this gap, so the fans had to do it themselves, developing modifications Blue Sentinel (do DS3) and Blue Acolyte (for Dark Souls II), which fix these problems and counteract cheats in online modes. Similar designs are also available dla Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition and Dark Souls: Remasteredbut they have not been developed for many years, so their current effectiveness leaves much to be desired.

FromSoftware’s approach to this issue is best reflected in the fact that when in January this year a new vulnerability has been detected in the code of the PC version of the game Dark Souls IIIthat allows hackers to take remote control of the player’s computer, the developers have simply disabled PvP servers not only in this production, but also in PC games Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, Dark Souls II and Dark Souls: Remastered. Almost two months have passed since then, and the PC servers of these titles are still turned off.

In this case, the fans came to the rescue again, developing the project DS3OS (Dark Souls 3 – Open Server)which allows players to set up their own servers Dark Souls III and having fun on them.
