Elden Ring, the next game from Dark Souls creator FromSoftware and Game of Thrones author George RR Martin, has an official release date. The highly anticipated game will arrive on January 21, 2022, the developer confirmed during Thursday’s Summer Game Fest.
The date announcement came with a new trailer for the game, which you can see above. Here we get to see Elden Ring in action, and in case there was any doubt, the experience has a clear and distinct Dark Souls feel to it.

Players must battle their way through a bone-chilling open world crammed with monsters of all shapes and sizes. You swing with the sword, roll away and use various magic in a combat system that seems to combine Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro in one.
We got a small glimpse of multiplayer cooperation – or “jolly cooperation” – as well as both show jumping and fighting on horseback.
Also, it’s dragons then. Of course.
Proper “gameplay” from the player’s perspective was not included in the new trailer. Publisher Bandai Namco admittedly has its own E3 show on June 15, so then there may be more to see from the game.
The Fire Ring is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S. Did we mention that it has a release date? January 21, 2022
