Elden Ring could be further delayed, parent company FromSoftware Kadokawa Corp warns in its latest release Earnings report.

This is no big surprise, however, given the silence surrounding the title.
Kadokawa’s profits in the gaming sector are expected to decline by as much as 15% in fiscal year 2022, and operating profit could decline by as much as 52%. This clearly shows that there is no solid release from one of the most iconic studios in the industry. It is also interesting to note Games aren’t a big part of Kadokawa’s business; Game volume reached 14 billion yen in fiscal year 2021, accounting for 7% of annual profit.
Elsewhere in the show, Kadokawa also says that game projects in development may be delayed due to the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19. Work from home procedures have severely hampered the development of almost all games in development worldwide, and the same is true for game studios in Japan.
Kadokawa Corp. currently has three gaming divisions: Kadokawa Games Ltd. FromSoftware and Spike Chunsoft.
A specific slide for Elden Ring on page 19 confirms Kadokawa’s commitment to the new IP games. The slide recounts George RR Martin’s contributions and confirms that Elden Ring is the greatest game FromSoftware has ever made.
