The Elda delegation that has traveled this week to Belgium met this morning at Brussels con Eurocitiesan entity that constitutes a network of 170 European municipalities representing 130 million citizens of 35 countries.
The mayor of Elda, Ruben Alfarotogether with the Councilor for Investments and European Funds, José Antonio Amatand the municipal technicians who are part of the delegation, met today with Sinead MullenResponsible for recruiting new members.

During the meeting, the details of the entry of the city of Elda into this platform, which will serve to share ideas, exchange experiences and develop innovative proposals within the framework of a common reality and problem and, especially, in the search and advice for the participation and development of projects with European funds.
A delegation from Elda goes to Belgium in search of aid for housing and Low Emission Zones
This entity will offer Elda, as well as the cities that make it up, a voice before the community institutions, so that the municipalities see their role as essential actors recognized in the process of European construction. Besides, will favor exchange, technical cooperation and participation in transnational projects. The incorporation of Elda in this body will favor the participation and organization of campaigns at a European level.
It should be noted that in Eurocities there are a total of 16 Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, Malaga, Zaragoza, Logroño, Donostia-San Sebastián, Murcia, Valladolid, Alcobendas, Terrasa, Rubí, Gijón and Fuenlabrada.
The first city of the province
Elda will become the second city of the Valencian Community and in the first of the Alicante province which is part of a network of hundreds of cities that collaborate with each other and that are committed to energy efficiency, accessibility, transparency and inclusion.
The Urban Agenda will turn Elda into “the city of 15 minutes”
Rubén Alfaro stated after the meeting that “The reception that they have offered us has been exceptional by the representation of Eurocities. Elda is fully aligned with the commitments of the rest of the cities that are part of Eurocities and that are included in the Local Action Plan of the Urban Agenda 2030 and in the Elda 2030 Strategic Plan”.

“Besides, added the mayor of Elda, It is essential to be part of platforms or networks such as Eurocities, because obviously being there will allow us to have more options and tools to access new European funds. We have to be aware that without EU funding it is impossible to face the challenges that we have set for ourselves in the coming years to make Elda a more humane, more livable and more prosperous city”.
