A truck caught fire under the Elbbrücken S-Bahn station on Monday morning. The fire also affected train services.
According to the police, a truck driver was driving on Zweibrückenstraße at around 6 a.m. when the driver of another vehicle drew his attention to the fire. The truck driver stopped directly under the bridge at the Elbbrücken station – and that had consequences for commuters: S-Bahn and long-distance traffic were interrupted, and the U4 no longer ran there in the meantime.
S-Bahn traffic still interrupted
40 firefighters were on duty, and the fire was extinguished with foam at 7:30 a.m. The subway and long-distance traffic are now rolling again, and there are still disabilities on the S-Bahn. Passengers on line S3 should switch to bus line 13 from Berliner Tor. Travelers with destination Harburg could also use the regional train.
Bridge is still under investigation
According to the railway, the extent to which the bridge was affected by the fire is still being examined. The cause of fire is not discovered yet.
