It’s been about a month since legendary band member Elán Vašo Patejdl (†68) left the world forever. One of the most popular Czech-Slovak music groups is still recovering from the shock, but one thing is certain. The passing of a musician deserves a concert in his honor. The band Elán announced that it is preparing two, one in Bratislava and the other in Prague. Next year, fans can remember the music legend together with Elán.
The great success of the music group Elán was replaced by sadness. In two and a half months, Elán sold out the two largest halls in the former Czechoslovakia. But the band around frontman Jož Ráž did not enjoy the success for too long. She was immediately struck by the sad news of the passing of her teammate, friend and band founder Vaša Patejdla.
In his honor, however, Elán plans to return to both halls, with a program For yours. “We thank everyone for the condolences and words of support with the passing of our Vaš. A piece of Elán left with him, but in Elán, a large part of his exceptional personality will remain with us forever. We will keep what we promised Vaš before his death, that is why we are announcing two concerts on his honor,” said singer Jožo Ráž, who will also celebrate his 70th birthday at the concert.
The original plan was that it would be a birthday concert for the same old Patejdl. “Vašo has been telling us for the last few months that a proper celebration must last at least two days, and a person celebrates his 70th birthday only once in his life. So we will play for him on both added days,” added guitarist Jano Baláž.
The band is not currently planning concerts in other cities or playing at festivals. “Fans write to us whether we will come to Brno or Košice. We answer them that this time they have to come to Prague or Bratislava,” added the guitarist.
At the added concerts, fans will see Elán in his pure rock form. “On stage, the band will return to the period of the 80s. Back then, they were more into rock music. They will also play songs from albums when Vašo was not a member of Elán and devoted himself to his solo career,” described Elán’s manager Michal Čimera.
The band will first perform on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the O2 Arena in Prague, and a week later, on September 28, 2024, they will repeat the concert at the TIPOS Arena – the Ondrej Nepela Winter Stadium in Bratislava. Fans can find advance sales for the added Pre Vaša concert in Prague on the band’s website.
