The WhatsApp instant messaging platform is working on an option that will allow users to share audio clips in the ‘Status’ section.
WhatsApp statuses debuted in 2017 as an option where users can share photos, videos, gifs and texts that disappear after 24 hours of being published and since then the function generates a lot of interaction.
The WABetainfo portal confirmed that WhatsApp is developing this new feature with which users can post voice notes in their states, as a new way to share another content format in that section.
According to the information agency Europa Press, “The new function will be represented with the same microphone icon present in the chats of the instant messaging network. The audio will be shared only with the contacts that the user previously selects from their application privacy settings.
Just like chats and statuses today, shared audio clips will be end-to-end encrypted. Being an option that is still in the development stage, the date on which it will be available to all WhatsApp users is not known.
