El Salvador Receives First Batch of Monkeypox Vaccines | News

El Salvador’s Ministry of Health reported Monday that the first batch of vaccines to combat monkeypox, which so far has 13 cases, arrived in the country.

The batch contains 1,400 doses of the compound, which was acquired through the Revolving Fund of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) together with the World Health Organization (WHO).

During a press conference, the deputy minister of the health portfolio, Karla Díaz, stressed the importance of the drug in cutting the chain of contagion and assured that the input has international approval.



In this regard, he said his country has become one of the first nations to acquire supplies to combat monkeypox.

In this regard, the representative of Apho in El Salvador, Giovanni Escalante, said that the drug will reduce the rates of contagion of the disease.

“We as PAHO are delighted to accompany the arrival of this batch of monkeypox vaccines in this process of technical cooperation. We are aware of the efforts to ensure that this first batch can reach the country through the Vaccine Revolving Fund ”, said Escalante.

Salvadoran authorities indicate that of the total number of cases diagnosed in the nation, ten have been discharged and three in preventive isolation.
