El Salvador receives donation of level III personal protective equipment from the Republic of Turkey

This morning, representatives of the government of the Republic of Turkey and the Executive Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (SECOMISCA) delivered a donation of supplies for the medical personnel of the Ministry of Health of El Salvador.

The donation received by the Ministry of Health consists of 440 level III personal protective equipment, which will be distributed in the public hospital network where care is provided to COVID-19 patients.

This donation seeks to safeguard front-line personnel and the Salvadoran population against the threat of Covid-19; which has been managed by the good relations of the Government of President Nayib Bukele.

“I want to make a symbolic delivery so that these equipment can be used by Health personnel,” said Alejandro Solís, Executive Secretary of the Executive Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic.

The delivery of these equipment is part of the implementation of the contingency plan that is a joint effort of the member states of the Central American Integration System (SICA) for the attention and containment of COVID-19.

Medical and administrative personnel continue to be on the front line fighting the pandemic that has affected the lives of thousands of Salvadorans. “On behalf of Minister Francisco Alabi, I am grateful for this donation from SECOMISCA,” said the National Director of Hospitals, Dr. Carmen Melara.

The delivery of protective equipment is a priority for the Ministry of Health as part of a strategy to safeguard the lives of medical personnel in hospitals and health units.
