El Salvador is on track to close 2023 as the safest year in the country’s history, after November 6 ended without homicides, adding a total of 204 days with zero violent deaths so far this year.
“We ended Monday, November 6, with 0 homicides in the country,” reported the National Civil Police (PNC).
During the administration of President Nayib Bukele, El Salvador has accumulated 478 days without violent crimes, thanks to the different measures implemented by the Government and security authorities. It is worth mentioning that 2022 is, to date, the safest year in the history of the country, since it closed with 495 days free of homicides. 2023 could exceed the figure, and mark a new historical milestone in terms of security.
Likewise, projections for the end of the year indicate that El Salvador would have a homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants at 1.8 to 2.5. Currently, the country is the safest territory on the American continent, making leaders from different delegations want to replicate the strategies.
