Diario El Rancagüino continues to make history. On a special night, the emblematic media outlet of the O’Higgins Region was awarded the prize for communication excellence and historical legacy at the “RG Awards 2024”. This recognition not only celebrates its 109 years of uninterrupted work serving the community, but also its crucial role in promoting local culture.
The Lucho Gatica Theater in Rancagua was dressed up to welcome exponents of the regional artistic and media world in an unforgettable ceremony. With an impressive red carpet, the parade of local stars imbued the atmosphere with glamour, talent and sophistication, making it clear that Rancagua is the birthplace of great creators.
CONSOLIDATED AS A PILLAR IN THE LIFE OF THE REGION
Among all the awards, one shone with special intensity, the one given to Diario El Rancagüino. Our centenary newspaper, with its rich history, has established itself as a fundamental pillar in the daily life of the 33 communes of the region, offering committed journalism, close and attentive to the information needs of the community. The award was received together with two other important media outlets for the cultural diffusion of the area: Radio Rancagua and Sexta Visión, forming a trio of institutions that have been key in the construction of the regional identity.
The head of information for the newspaper El Rancagüino, Ricardo Obando, thanked the recognition that highlights the historical work of the media outlet, indicating that the pages of our newspaper will always be ready to publicize the talent of local artists. “The history of the region is in our pages, and on this occasion El Rancagüino is highlighted for its contribution to culture and support for the artists of the area,” he said.
The night continued with the presentation of various awards to local artists and content creators hosted by Radio FM Tú host Rodrigo Peralta in a Regional Theater that witnessed a nascent show that seeks to promote the art and culture of the region where a wide spectrum stood out, from the media, to the most promising artists and those who have already established themselves in the local scene.
Rodrigo Gaete, singer and creator of the awards, was the main driving force behind this initiative, which was born with the aim of making the work of local artists visible and offering them a platform for recognition. He was accompanied by Caro Castro, host of the BrillaGlam program, both visionaries behind this innovative proposal.
With this first edition, it is clear that the “RG Awards” are not just a recognition; but a celebration of local talent that, like El Rancagüino, continues to make history.
