EL PASO, Texas – The City of El Paso Department of Public Health (DPH), Fire Department and El Paso Parks and Recreation Department are hosting a Health and Safety Event for the entire the family prior to the December celebrations.
The event is from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 14 at the Chamizal Community Center, 2119 Cypress Ave.
This free event includes the following activities:
Health screenings such as blood pressure, blood sugar testing, body mass index Free flu shots How to prepare an emergency and travel kit for prescription medications Food preparation and sanitation education Healthy food demonstrations Patient navigators at the DPH will provide referral services for social determinants of health. The Fire Department’s Community Risk Reduction Division will provide: Safety seat checks to include new seating installations and correct installations. CO2 detectors, fire extinguisher checks DPH Integrated Mobile Health Unit will provide education to seniors about falls Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will provide safety information: Get Informed/Be Ready 211 will provide information about the service: free information and referral service 24 hours a day throughout the state
Raffle items will be given out throughout the event in the form of gift cards and holiday food boxes.
