El Ideal offers theatre, humour, music, literary events and charity festivals for the months of September and October

The Closing Gala of the XXV Short Film Festival ‘¡CORT…en!-Ciudad de Calahorra’ will kick off this Friday, September 13, the Ideal theatre programme for the months of September and October.

The actress from Calahorra, Mª José Garrido, will present this Gala in which the Municipal Music Band will participate. It will begin at 9:00 p.m.

There are still some invitations available to attend this film event.

On Saturday, September 21, former Real Sociedad player Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga will present his monologue ‘FutbolisTOC’ at 7:00 p.m. For the first time, he will talk about the disease OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), which “he has had to suffer from first-hand since he became a first division footballer.”

Over the course of 90 minutes, the Elgoibartarra stand-up comedian will address this topic in a humorous way, showing that there is no better way than laughing at oneself to put the problems and fluctuations of everyday life into perspective.

Admission is priced at 5 euros for all venues and free for those under 18.

The María Salus Infirmorum association will organize a concert entitled ‘Traditional and Roots Music’ with the group Ojaluna on Friday, September 27, at 8:30 p.m. After the musical performance, a video will be shown to publicize the activities carried out by this association.

The price of all seats will also be 5 euros.

On Saturday 28th September we will have the opportunity to see the play ‘Baile de huesos’ (Bone Dance) by the Calahorra theatre group ‘Tagaste’ again at 8.30pm. The performance, directed by Javier Gutiérrez, depicts four different ways of facing life and death.

The following day, Sunday, September 29, the ‘Candilejas’ theatre group from Autol will take to the Ideal stage to perform ‘The House of the Seven Balconies’ at 7:30 p.m.

In October, the programme will begin with the La Rioja National Fitness and Bodybuilding Trophy on Saturday, October 5.

For the first time, Calahorra will host this tournament organised by the Riojan Federation of Physical Culture. At 9:30 a.m. the participants will be weighed, at 11:30 a.m. the regional competition will begin and from 12:30 p.m. the national trophy will be celebrated.

In the evening at 9:00 pm there will be more monologues with Coria Castillo and Agustín Durán to celebrate the Day of Commerce organised by the association ‘Calahorra, ciudad comercial’.

On Sunday, October 6, the Logroño group ‘La Garnacha Teatro’ will perform the play ‘El cuarto de Verónica’ at 8:30 p.m. as part of the program of the Government of La Rioja Red de Teatros de La Rioja. Admission will cost 5 euros for all seats.

The city theatre will host a literary event entitled ‘A Lifetime’ with Miguel Ángel Revilla on Friday, 18 October, at 8:00 pm. Revilla will review current social and political events and share his experiences and reflections with the public. Admission to the theatre on that day is free.

Humour will also be present in October at Ideal thanks to the Friends of the History of Calahorra association. The comedian, scriptwriter and contributor to television and radio programmes JJ Vaquero will make us laugh with his show ‘Vaquero’ in which the guitarist Carlos Martín ‘Catos’ also collaborates.

On Sunday, October 20th, at 8:00 pm, the program includes the family play ‘Segismundo y Compañía’ by Tres Tristes Tigres. Also from the Red de Teatros de La Rioja. Tickets will cost a single 6 euros.

The Teresian NGO Fundeo will hold its charity festival ‘Fashion and Dance’ on Sunday, October 27, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets will cost 10 euros for all seats and the money raised will go towards rebuilding the Enrique de Ossó school in Paraguay, destroyed last spring by the avalanche of the Limpio River.

Tickets for all these shows will go on sale on September 12th from 12:00 pm at the theater box office and on the website www.citylok.com/teatroideal.

There will be a 20% discount for people over 60 years of age and young people who present their youth card.

In addition, unemployed people will receive a 50% discount with the accreditation card and young people under 30 years of age can benefit from the youth ticket, which costs 4 euros in the second amphitheater of the theater.

The Ideal box office will be open from 12:00 to 14:00 on September 12, 19 and 26 and October 3, 10, 17 and 24, as well as on days when there is a performance two hours before the start of the performance.
