Health Jurisdiction No. 2 made the National Pet Health Day in Santiago de la Peña, Infonavit Tuliapanes-Geminis and other neighborhoods, with the objective of prevention and vaccination against the rabies virus.
The nurses gave vaccinations to dogs and cats, which are the main carriers of this virus.
There were 190 doses of vaccine, enough to cover the first application. However, it is recommended to vaccinate pets twice a year to ensure that they are protected.
Pet owners must register their animals and obtain a clinical vaccination record.
It is worth mentioning that the organizers will be visiting every neighborhood and community to apply the vaccine and prevent the spread of the virus. They also recommend bathing pets every two weeks, looking for signs of ticks, and taking pets with symptoms to a vet.
The day is part of a larger effort to reduce the number of stray and abandoned dogs and animals, and to promote responsible pet care.
The hours that will be present at the initiative will be from 9 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, both in models and in the Wellness Health Units.
