‘El Clavadista’ returns. The documentary will be free at the El Cid Theatre

MAZATLAN.- The Diver is back and will be presented free of charge at the Teatro de El Cid, a documentary directed by Fernando Alarriba and Daniel Reyes.

This documentary shows you the challenges, the history, the testimonies and how iconic this profession, so representative of tourist life in Mazatlán, became.

Enrique Vega Ayala, director of Cultural Planning for Mazatlán, said that the documentary highlights the human side of the flight artists, who for more than half a century have become an icon of local culture and a symbol of the identity of the people of Mazatlán.

“The diver is a fundamental symbol for modern Mazatlán. Without the diver, neither the pneumonias nor the transformation that the Mazatlán International Carnival underwent since the 1950s, cultural tourism would not make much sense,” he said.

Fernando Alarriba, creator of the documentary, said that this is an independent and self-sustaining project that is also available in www.elclavadista.coma website, for a fee of 20 pesos.

For Alarriba and Daniel Reyes, this free function is an ideal opportunity for tourists and locals to learn more about the history of The Diveran attraction that is part of Mazatlán’s cultural heritage.

The free screening will take place on August 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the El Cid Hotel Theater, with the original audio in Spanish and English subtitles.
