The Órbigo Businessmen Association and Círculo Empresarial Leones join forces to collaborate in the solidarity project ‘Potatoes against hunger’. The president of AEDO, Javier González, accompanied by the secretary of the association, Desiderio Sutil and the manager of the CEL, Jorge Vargas, have presented the campaign that sets its objective in help different non-governmental organizations.
With the collaboration of the Prodeleco cooperative and the municipalities of Villarejo de Órbigo, Bustillo del Páramo, San Cristóbal de la Polantera, Riego de la Vega y Valderrey and Caja Rural and the Círculo de Empresarios de León, the initiative that is part of AEDO will distribute 12.00 kilos of potatoes.
The donation will go to non-governmental organizations such as CRuz Roja, Manos Unidas, Cáritas and the Food Bank, and the aid is expected to reach 40,000 people in the province in need. “The potato is a fundamental food in a good diet and we want to do our bit this year”, point out those responsible for the initiative.

The President of AEDO, Desiderio Sutil, also stressed that the campaign “involves three parties: farmers, businessmen and families who are experiencing the worst because the potato has taken away hunger and will continue to do so».
The campaign begins this Wednesday and interested associations only have to notify 24 hours in advance to request the amount they request and that the Prodeleco cooperative can review and catalog the product.
To promote the initiative that does not have an end date, the bakeries in the Órbigo area will distribute bags with the campaign poster and the account number in which the Leonese can make a monetary donation that AEDO will turn into potatoes to donate.
