With the classification of the “national flower” at the end of the 24th edition of the Provincial Basketball League, the trident of clubs in our city that reach the definition of this competition is completed.
After leaving San Martín de Marcos Juárez on the road in the semifinal series, Aristóbulo del Valle and Cabrera’s team will experience a historic moment. He will play for the first time in the final of the Provincial Basketball League.
This possibility was already held by San Isidro and El Tala, who have already played at least one final of the maximum competition at the provincial level of this sport.
The “saint” became champion of the 2009/10 season by beating Instituto de Córdoba 4-2 in a best-of-seven-game series. He was the first from San Francisco to win the title and the only one so far.
Is that El Tala reached the final of the provincial competition twice but in neither of the two could he be crowned. The first opportunity was in the inaugural edition of the League in 1997 where he fell in the definition against Universitario by 2 to 1. The second time was in the 2012/13 season in which he could not against Hindú de Córdoba and lost 4 to 1 in the best-of-seven series.
Eduardo Blengini was the coach of El Tala in its last final. It will be the third definition for the “mara” that comes from winning the last edition with Freyre’s 9th of Julio Olímpico. Just another who will repeat will be Agustín Blasi, a member of the “celestial” campus.
Another who will have to play another provincial final will be Germán Ruffino who was a member of the San Isidro team that became champion in 2010.
