The Vice-Rector’s Office for Social Responsibility, Culture and Sports of the University of León (ULE) has programmed, through the Cultural Activities, the performance of José María Guzmán González de Castejón ‘Guzmán‘, a true legend of Spanish pop, a brilliant artist and prolific composer, producer and good singer, to be held on Sunday, February 7 from 6:00 p.m. at the El Albéitar Theater.
‘Guzmán’ is an artist in allto the extent of the word, much loved and admired by other singers, composers and the entire music industry, an unusual circumstance that qualifies and identifies him as one of the greats of this country. It is important to note that it has a huge production, with more than four hundred and fifty songs composed and registered in the SEDA (Society of Spanish Authors) and also works as an arranger, editor and record producer of many groups and soloists through ‘Cadillac Music ‘, his own record label, and also for other record companies.
A different musician
Guzmán is a different musician. He is not integrated into the conventional circles of the music of our country, nor is he a prisoner or hostage of any record company. It does not limit itself to looking for ephemeral applause; he seeks beauty and perfection in everything he does. He is a brilliant composer, author of magnificent ballads and other themes that have been around the world. Gifted with an exceptional voice, with very high registers, his vocal range is so wide and clean that it allows him to sing all the songs of the Beatles in their original tone, of whom he is a great follower and enthusiast. ANDThe profile of a good part of his compositions it is in harmony with the great songs of the Lennon-McCartney couple.
Guzmán has created countless advertising jingles for hundreds of articles, campaigns, and products from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s. His activity in the world of music is still immense and very varied. While he continues to compose and create new songs, he dedicates time and work to the musical production of other artists and to musical production in general, and he works as a teacher in various centers as a teacher of vocal harmony and choirs, and of interpretation.
