The first half of the game could not satisfy even the most seasoned connoisseurs of the Ekstraklasa. There were few interesting situations, and the greatest hope for a change in the face of this meeting came in the 16th minute.
The referee indicated a foul after a handball in Stal’s penalty area, but Korona’s players were only happy for a moment, as VAR quickly showed that it did not qualify for a penalty.
As for Stal, Shkurin was the closest to success, but the Belarusian striker lacked effectiveness.
The second half couldn’t have started any better for Korona. Jauhenij Shykauka was fouled in the penalty area in a relatively harmless situation, and a moment later Pedro Nuno stepped up to the ball and confidently converted the penalty.
It seemed that this would be a breakthrough moment, after which Stal would abandon their defensive fences and attack, wanting to save the result. Unfortunately, it was not quite like that – the actions of Mielec were carried out at a steady pace, they did not pose a great threat to the opponents’ goal, who managed to break up the attacks without any major problems, and also controlled the events on the pitch well… until the 85th minute.
One action was enough for Stal to equalize. Domański received the ball in front of the penalty area, placed the ball on his right foot and aimed it at the far corner of Dziekoński’s goal. Encouraged by this goal, Stal started to attack, but the last word in this match belonged to Korona.
The hosts achieved their goal in the 92nd minute, when Błanik, who had been introduced a few minutes earlier, scored. Korona’s first win allowed them to leave the relegation zone, sending Stal, who had been performing poorly since the beginning of the season, there.
