On Tuesday, the MŠK Žilina footballers took the direction of Jablonec, where the first match of the playoffs of the European Conference League 2021/22 awaits them on Thursday (8 pm).
Although they did not have to move by air as in previous preliminary rounds to Kazakhstan, Georgia and Cyprus, they spent several hours on the road again. This time they exchanged the plane for a train.
“It’s almost the same in time,” head coach Pavol Staňo smiled before leaving. A five-hour flight to Kazakhstan will be replaced by an equally long but comfortable train journey from Žilina to Prague. From there, the “shoshons” moved by bus to Jablonec.
“The move to Jablonec will take a while, but we are looking forward to playing in the Czech Republic. The confrontation of ours and their football can be interesting. They have an experienced and quality team, which they have achieved in recent seasons. It will be a good challenge for us.” said Staňo for the official club website.
The head coach believes that his team will learn from a surprising weekend loss in Fortunalige with a newcomer from Liptovský Mikuláš (1: 2): “We need to shake it up quickly and prepare for Thursday. We have seen that if what we agree on is not fulfilled, a problem may arise and of course it has arisen.
We lost, we’re sorry, but there’s no need to make science out of it now. Losses are coming and you need to react well to them. It was a good school and we will not repeat the mistakes we have made. I believe that we are able to cause problems for Jablonec, even if it is a favorite. “
Twenty-one-year-old midfielder Enis Fazlagič believes that they will take a good result from Jablonec to the home revenge: “It didn’t work out over the weekend, we didn’t play like we used to. On Thursday, the energy and everything must be completely different. We will try to play our best and we hope that in the end we will be successful.” stated for the club page.
