But not everyone seems to be satisfied with the 20-minute film, as numerous discussions – due to corona, almost only virtual – show. In a nutshell: The ethnic groups that make up a significant part of the country’s cultural life were not taken into account at all.
This is also criticized by the Osliper winemaker Konrad Robitza. “Ethnic groups who have lived together here for 500 years or more are not shown in any way … guade Nocht Kultur Burgenland. Or lahku noć. ”He started a discussion on Facebook, in which many celebrities took part. He is not only encouraged by the Burgenland-Croatian ethnic group.
Too little reference to the situation in 2021
ASVÖ President Robert Zsifkovits also hits the same note: “The chance that Burgenland as traditional and modern, to present its ethnic groups and the diversity from north to south to a huge audience, was unfortunately wasted! You’re stuck in 1921, with beautiful pictures and music. ”In fact, viewers unfamiliar with Burgenland might think that the clocks stopped here a hundred years ago (see screenshot above).
Robitza’s fellow winemaker FX Lehner goes even further: “I am appalled by the way our great, modern Burgenland and its ethnic groups are presented. The contribution harmed our image rather than helped. ”Less controversial

is the musical director for whom Burgenland also set the pace. Or rather, from Burgenland: This year, 27-year-old Johannes Schneider from Eisenstadt was at the kettledrum for the fourth time. In 2018 the percussion virtuoso joined Austria’s most famous orchestra as the youngest philharmonic orchestra.
