She is 55, comes from Eisenach and claims to be a “huge” Johnny Depp fan: the winner of a hat personally worn and signed by Depps, aka Captain Jack Sparrow.
This week, the 55-year-old from Thuringia picked up the Hollywood star’s hat at the Eisenach blood and plasma donation center. Why there?

Anyone who donated to blood donation in Suhl and its affiliated institutions during the campaign period automatically received a coupon for a large charity draw. The whole thing was arranged by music manager Alex Becker from Suhl, who is a close friend of Johnny Depp.
As Becker announced, a total of 23,921 donors were involved. In addition, 30,554 euros were raised for the charitable purpose. The blood donation Suhl donated additional money for every blood, plasma and platelet donation made, it said.
According to the information, the total proceeds went in equal parts to the family center “Die Insel” in Suhl, the Ilmenauer Tafel, the Caritas Eisenacher Tafel und Tagestreff and the Erfurter Tafel eV

“I’m really proud that we were able to do so much good with the help of many hard-working blood donors. Unfortunately, I was never really aware of the important work the panel is doing,” said Becker.
According to the music manager, the new owner of Johnny Depp’s hat has been donating to the Suhl blood donation service since 1998.
“When the blood donation called me, I was very worried at first. I thought something was wrong with my blood,” revealed the winner. But when the real reason for the call came to light, the donor from Eisenach became completely different.

“I was in my car. When I found out I’d won Johnny Depp’s hat, I felt so different. My heart felt really warm. I had to pull over and take a deep breath because I’m a huge guy Johnny Depp fan,” she is quoted as saying in an official statement.

Congratulations to the winner came from Wolfgang Wehner, Managing Director of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine in Suhl, among others. “In the years that the winner has been associated with us, she has donated her blood for sick and injured people more than 500 times, and thus helped countless people selflessly. I am glad that the luck of the draw was not only given to a real fan, but also met a true fundraiser,” he said.
