When the annual accounts for 2021 were presented, more had to be invested in water treatment systems.

The old debt level of the Drinking and Wastewater Association (TAV-EE) was around 57 million euros at the end of September. “Last year we needed € 2.2 million just to pay the interest,” plant manager Peter Kahlenberg told the association’s meeting on Monday afternoon. The association would like to invest even more and is now taking out a new loan of € 3.3 million over 30 years at a nominal interest rate of 3.2 percent.

The 2021 annual accounts show how important new investments are for the association: fixed assets in the drinking water sector decreased by about one million euros. “We have invested less than we have written off,” explains Kahlenberg. Investments in the drinking water sector will be around 1.52 million euros in 2021, while depreciation will be 2.55 million. In the case of waste water, 5.48 million will be invested and 5.26 million will be canceled.

For the 2021 financial year, the TAV receives an unreserved audit opinion from the appointed auditor. The reduced income from taxes comes from the decline in water consumption. Despite wage increases, staff costs will be lower in both areas in 2021 due to some long-term illnesses. The increase in material costs is most evident in the drinking water sector as TAV carries out more and more repairs on its own.

Peter Kahlenberg also provided information on the reallocation of funds and the award of contracts. This concerns the construction projects of Stedtfeld (sewage bunker), Falken (sewer, pressure line), Mosbach (connection line), Hörschel (separation system), Deubach (drinking water network), Thal (accident of the wastewater) and Kittelsthal (Thalbergstraße).
