Kristjan Glibo, Eintracht Frankfurt U21 coach: “I think it was a deserved win. We were very stable. We knew about the danger of SCW top scorer Felix Erben, who is usually the target player. We wanted to keep opponents away from our goal and resolve situations in a playful way. I think we managed that very well over the 90 minutes. In the second half there was a phase where things got a little wilder. But I generally like the attitude of my boys, what they have been showing for weeks, I really enjoy it. We are on the right track. Here in Waldgirmes you can’t make any mistakes, you have to keep your opponent away from the goal and create chances for yourself. We did well today.”
Mario Schappert: Coach of SC Waldgirmes: “My coaching colleague Kristjan Glibo already said everything about the game. I can hook onto this game relatively quickly. It was a decent performance, but no more. If you don’t allow much in the first 45 minutes of the game against Eintracht, you basically haven’t done much wrong. The fact that we got 0-1 from a standard situation is of course super annoying. We actually wanted to be dangerous with set pieces – but our opponents showed us how to do it. After half-time we had our best phase – in this you have to act with the last determination. Unfortunately we missed that. Eintracht then downplayed the game very solidly, without us being able to counter it very well.”
Daniel Dejanovic, Eintracht Frankfurt U21 midfielder and scorer to make it 1-0: “Overall, we played the game very confidently. Except for a good opportunity for Waldgirmes, we defended everything and took the lead ourselves through two set pieces. After that we finished the game confidently. Of course, I’m pleased that the free kick went into the far corner to make it 1-0. I try to place the free-kicks from the half field there a lot because they are always uncomfortable for the goalkeeper. All in all it was a deserved win.
