Eintracht Frankfurt is showing great interest in an attacking player from VfL Wolfsburg, who is also very popular elsewhere.

Frankfurt – The hot phase of the current season is underway and Eintracht Frankfurt can make a big splash in the Europa League. However, the international success should not hide the weak season in the Bundesliga. The aim of the SBU was to qualify again for an international competition, but that was already done after the 31st matchday – the gap to the top was too big.

There will be some changes in the Eintracht Frankfurt squad and sporting director Markus Krösche has been working on newcomers for a long time. “Generally, our goal is to complete our squad early on. It is important for the trainer not to find patchwork at the beginning of preparation, but a squad that is as complete as possible. We have to act early to have these prerequisites,” Krösche said.

Eintracht Frankfurt plans squad for 2022/23 season

Several new players for the 2022/23 season have already been announced and the next one could be added soon. As the Kicker sports magazine reports, Eintracht Frankfurt is said to be interested in Josip Brekalo. The offensive player is currently on loan from VfL Wolfsburg to FC Turin in the Italian Serie A. The Turinese have a purchase option of 10.5 million euros, which must be exercised by May 10, 2022. It is conceivable that the Serie A club will commit Brekalo and then sell it for a profit.

Josip Brekalo is having a strong season at FC Torino and has been able to establish himself as a regular in midfield right from the start. In 30 competitive games, the offensive player has six goals and two preparations. The fact that the 23-year-old will also be under contract with FC Torino in the coming season is considered rather unlikely. In addition to Eintracht Frankfurt, Lazio Rom and FC Villarreal are also interested in the Croatian. As the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung recently reported, Brekalo prefers a transfer to Spain.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Will Brekalo succeed Kamada?

Should Eintracht Frankfurt be able to sign the midfielder, he would be a possible successor to Daichi Kamada, whose whereabouts in the Main are by no means certain. The contract of the Japanese runs until June 30, 2023 and sporting director Markus Krösche recently confirmed that he will not go into the last contract year with any top performers. So if there is no renewal with Kamada, SGE will sell him in the summer. With the expected income from this transfer, the Adler could handle the fee for Josip Brekalo.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt has a Turkish national player on the line as a possible newcomer. In addition, the sale of Evan Ndicka at Eintracht Frankfurt is taking concrete shape. (smr)
