From Frankfurt to Fürth: Noel Futkeu conquers the 2nd Bundesliga. But a buy-back option could change his future again.
Frankfurt/Fürth – In the current season of the second Bundesliga, Noel Futkeu has emerged as one of the strongest players at Greuther Fürth. The young striker, who moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Franconians at the age of 21 for a moderate transfer fee of 250,000 euros, has attracted attention with his consistently excellent performances. In his first four games, Futkeu scored two goals and provided two assists, making him one of the best scorers in the league at the moment.
Eintracht departure turns up the heat in the 2nd Bundesliga
Markus Krösche, Eintracht’s sporting director, has apparently agreed to a buy-back clause in Futkeu’s transfer. This allows the club to bring back the talented striker for 1.3 million euros, as the Sports Image This sum could correspond to the player’s future market value, assuming he maintains his strong form. However, it remains uncertain when this clause can come into effect.
Futkeu’s career started promisingly, despite some setbacks. In the Regionalliga, he scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 27 games for Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, his short professional time at Frankfurt ended unhappily when he was sent off just five minutes after being substituted in a DFB Cup match against Saarbrücken. Before his time at Eintracht, Futkeu played for 1. FC Köln and Schwarz-Weiß Essen.
Former Eintracht player becomes top scorer in Fürth
At Greuther Fürth, Futkeu has made people forget the departures of Armindo Sieb and Tim Lemperle and established himself as a key player. His threat to goal and his contribution to counter-pressing make him a valuable player in the team. With his performances, he has not only filled the gap in attack, but has also contributed to Fürth being unbeaten after four games.
If Eintracht Frankfurt makes use of the buyback clause, the club has various options at its disposal. On the one hand, Futkeu could be brought back to strengthen its own offensive. On the other hand, there is the possibility of selling him on for a higher price. This strategic decision depends heavily on his further development at Greuther Fürth. (smr)
