Eintracht Frankfurt Announces Borré Striker, Ex-River Plate | international football

On Monday, Eintracht Frankfurt announced the hiring of Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré, who was at River Plate. The 25-year-old player joins the German team free of charge after not renewing his contract with the Argentine team, where he spent almost four seasons. He signed until June 2025 with the new club.

Earlier this year, Borré was on Grêmio’s target, palm trees e Sao Paulo e almost closed with the Tricolor gaucho. However, the negotiation did not advance, and the Colombian leaves River Plate without any financial compensation to Millonario.

It will be Borré’s second chance in Europe. In 2015, he was sold to Atlético de Madrid, where he never played. The Colombian was loaned by Colchonero to Deportivo Cali and then to Villarreal, in 2016. In the Yellow Submarine, the forward scored four goals in 30 games.

For River Plate, Borré played in 149 matches, scored 56 goals and scored 18 assists. He won six titles at Millonario: two Argentine Cups, two Argentine Super Cups, 2018 Libertadores and 2019 Recopa Sudamericana.

Borré is currently with the Colombia team in the dispute for the America Cup. He has started for the Cafeteros in three of the five matches of Reinaldo Rueda’s team so far. The Colombians take Argentina in the semifinal of the competition.

The Colombian will replace André Silva at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Portuguese striker was announced by RB Leipzig. Frankfurt was fifth in the Bundesliga last season and will debut in the next edition against Borussia Dortmund, on August 13th.
